Likely inspired by Pokémon GO, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield introduce Max Raid Battles to the main series. During these encounters, up to four players may team up to defeat a rival Pokémon. However, these won’t be just any Pokémon. These will all be giant Dynamax Pokémon!
Unlike with trained Pokémon, Dynamax Pokémon in Max Raid Battle will retain their size and increased stats throughout the battle’s entirety, Furthermore, only one of the four trainers will be able to Dynamax one of their Pokémon per battle. It will take communication, compatibility, and cooperation to succeed. Victory will grant participants the chance to catch a rare Pokémon. Some are so rare, in fact, that they may only be available through Max Raid Battles!
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will release November 15, 2019!
